Having a good job that provides for your family is the single biggest factor influencing family stability. In addition, high unemployment also places a major strain on a state’s economic resources through higher welfare benefits and payments. The key to turning around Arizona’s economic woes is job growth.
As one of your elected officials, and a business owner who has actually created hundreds of jobs, I am prepared to go to the State Capitol and work on a jobs package that will move Arizona forward. I look forward to hearing your ideas and opinions on the methods and policies we can put into place to promote free enterprise and entrepreneurship.
At the same time, our current tax structure will not see Arizona through the next 20 years. Having a sales tax based economy does not work as long as shopping on the Internet is tax-free. Collecting property taxes will not work as long as the Tribes can entice companies to move onto reservation land and pay no property taxes. I am not pointing fingers, but rather pointing out that the State of Arizona does not play on a level field and it is time to start looking at how we reform our tax structure to make Arizona successful.
